Eli Rowe

Eli's earliest memory of working on construction began when he was living in the Santa Cruz mountains with his father. His father was a builder and designer who built his own home in the 1970's when Eli was less than 10 years old. Eli's job was to strip bark off of raw timber and haul newly milled timber to the construction site from the forest or milling location. In his early teens, Eli worked summers and holidays for local Santa Cruz contractors as a laborer. By his senior year in high school, Eli worked as an apprentice and finish carpenter for his father who at this point was a licensed contractor working in the Santa Cruz area. Upon completion of high school, Eli attended California College of the Arts (CCA) where he obtained a bachelors degree in Fine Art and Furniture Design. Throughout his college years, Eli was responsible for managing the CCA wood shop as well as working holidays, weekends and summers in the trades for his father and even a company that specialized in building climbing gyms.
After college in his mid to late 20's, Eli gained apprentice carpentry skills working for small mid level design build contractors in the Bay Area. In his 30's Eli progressed from a carpenter to journeyman carpenter to a master carpenter while working for larger, high end construction companies. The skills gained during this period of time included excavation, drainage (sump pumps and french drains), foundation form work, placement of seismic hardware and rebar, installation of concrete, concrete foundations, slabs, and stem walls, ability to read plans created by engineers and architects, roof and floor framing, sheer walls and seismic retrofit, prefabricated modular wall construction, blind firewall construction, deck and porch installation, new construction window and door installation as well as remodel/retrofit door and window installation, weather stripping, whole house high efficiency energy retrofit, HVAC and duct work, skylights, roofing, plumbing, electrical, insulation including fiberglass batts, polyurethane adhesive spray foam, loose fill blown-in insulation, attic and eve ventilation, siding, stucco, sheet rock, painting, waterproof flashing systems, interior and exterior window and door trim, masonry including exterior flagstone, interior tile work including waterproofing and cement board substrate preparation, cabinet installation, hardwood floors, appliance installation, irrigation and landscaping. Due to Eli's wood working skills that he gained in college, Eli has also built custom doors and casework built from scratch.
In addition to self performing work, Eli was promoted into a supervisory position by his employers. He was responsible for overseeing the work of subcontractors, apprentices and lower level carpenters who performed the tasks described above. Eli was able to effectively oversee subcontractors because he had done the work himself so he understood quality, efficiency, best practices, critical path of construction sequencing and schedule. Eli was responsible for managing building inspector site visits and the permit process. Eli also met with architects, engineers and special inspectors when problems occurred, construction observations were necessary or revisions were required.
In 2004, Eli purchased his own home in Oakland. While doing the renovation on this home, Eli created drawings necessary to obtain city permits for kitchen, plumbing and electrical renovations. Eli's construction document/permit drawing skills came from a combination of experience working for his father, his art degree and his work experience. Eli expedited permits and passed all inspections.
All of these experiences combined to give Eli enough confidence to start his own general contracting business in 2009. Since then he has continued to perform high quality renovation services through out the bay area.

"I am a turnkey contractor, performing a wide range of tasks from foundation to fine wood working. My subcontractors and vendors are held to a very high standard. They can do anything from concrete repair to copper saddle flashing.
When working with the new clients, I offer a free walk through of the selected areas to be remodeled and a line item estimate. This enables us to refine the scope of the work to fit into the client’s budget. Tasks can easily be added or removed at this stage and the client is able to see where each portion of the work is allotted. My services also include plan drawing and pulling permits.
Call to discuss your ideas and schedule your in-home consultation and estimate."
